Energy consumption models for ad-hoc mobile terminals

This paper describes a set of experiments based on ACPI BIOS measurements which evaluate the energy consumption of an IEEE802.11 wireless network interface. Based on our ACPI measurements, two models of energy consumption are presented in section VI: (1) an analytical model for network simulator, (2) an empirical model for testbed implementation. The aim of these studies is to provide an environnement both for simulation and implementation. This work is the first step to propose a new power-aware routing protocol for mobile ad-hoc networks.
