MOBILITY AND THE DRIVING OF A CAR WITH A BRAIN-DAMAGED AND NON-BRAIN-DAMAGED POPULATION

A long-term study carried out by the Adaptation Centre for Handicapped Drivers (CARA) is described, carried out to study the fitness-to-drive of people with a functional impairment. A questionnaire sent to over a thousand brain-damaged and non-brain-damaged people was used to study mobility and the use of various means of transport to determine the impact of non-driving according to disability. Drivers and non-drivers are compared regarding the numbers of trips made and mobility relative to level of disability.
