Application of time varying filter to aircraft data in turbulence.

In this paper application of time varying filter to the problem of parameter estimation of aircraft in turbulence is addressed. Longitudinal and lateral-directional aircraft data with appreciable levels of turbulence are analyzed employing filter error method with a time varying gain filter for state estimation. Identification results are compared with those obtained from output error method to demonstrate the efficacy of the approach in identifying aircraft derivatives and predicting flight response in turbulence.
