Modelling and simulation of the reversed flow operation of a fixed-bed reactor for methanol synthesis

Abstract The proposed simulation of the reversed flow operation of a fixed-bed reactor for methanol synthesis is based upon a heterogeneous one-dimensional model. Different levels of transient modelling are compared. By using the most sophisticated model, the influence of a number of operating parameters is assessed. Considerable insight into the reactor behaviour is obtained.
