Modeling of Gasifiers: Overview of Current Developments

Recent developments in technology demonstrate that real progress in the field of mechanical/aerospace or chemical engineering can be achieved using numerical1) modeling. Basically, experiments are much more expensive than computations. Especially, taking into account possible risks or disasters during tests, simulations become more attractive. However, it should be emphasized that any model is useless unless it reproduces the values measured or their basic behavior during real processes.
