A Reduced Symbol Synchronization Algorithm for OFDM Systems

In order to increase the accuracy of timing estimation in frequency selective fading (FSF) channels and reduce the computational complexity, in this paper an adaptive symbol synchronization of OFDM blind channel estimation is proposed. First, by the ML algorithm used in flat fading channels, we give a rough estimated time position ,then choose ,and give the maximum d1 of the measure function [1] in the range of . Next, in the range of we continue to look for the maximum d2. If the two values d1 and d2 coincide, now we can stop and this point shall be the timed position, otherwise continue to search until the maximum point position fixed. Simulation results show that the accuracy of this algorithm is consistent with the traditional algorithms, but its computational complexity is far lower than the traditional algorithms.
