Traditional grassland management and surrounding land use drive the abundance of a prairie plant species in urban areas

a b s t r a c t Data on species distribution and management requirements are increasingly being used in urban land- scape and conservation planning. Prairie crocus (Anemone patens L.) is a perennial herb whose populations have disappeared from the vicinity of most European cities. However, it can still be found within some urban areas in North America. This allows the study of the factors affecting urban populations of this
