Scale Model Experiment of Weather-Vane-Type Floating Platform for Downwind-Type Offshore Wind Turbine

To reduce the cost of energy of floating offshore wind turbine is an important problem to spread commercial power generation. The installation to near shore area is one of answers because the installation cost of a floater and cable, cable laying cost and operation & maintenance cost will be reduced. In the other hand, there is no floating offshore wind turbine installed near shore area where the water depth is about 50 meters. Tank tests with 1:30 scale model designed to be suitable for shallow water area were carried out. In this paper, a part of test results is introduced.
