Rigorous network modelling of electromagnetically computed filter losses

A rigorous method for evaluating the power dissipated inside an H-plane waveguide filter and for deriving the lossy network S-parameters is introduced. The accuracy of the proposed approach is demonstrated by comparing computed and measured insertion loss of a silver-plated 7-pole waveguide filter working at Ka band.
