Successes and challenges

The rapidly evolving field of DNA or biomolecular computing uses biotechnological techniques to do computation. In his Perspective, [Reif][1] highlights the report by [ Braich et al .][2] of the largest-scale demonstration to date of the capabilities of DNA computation. The method developed by the authors may have diverse biotechnology and security applications, including the execution of Boolean retrieval queries in "wet" databases containing strands of DNA.
