Using Sensitivity Analysis and Optimization for Civil Engineering and Geotechnical Applications

To achieve the demands for safe and economic designs in mining and civil engineering mathematical based optimization is necessary. Based on stochastic sampling methods sensitivity analyses are used to identify the critical parameters of the system. Later on, evolutionary Pareto-optimization is used to get the best design. The underlying physical problem is modeled via numerical approaches. Based on a simple example the roof support of a drift by anchors the whole procedure and potential are demonstrated.
