A QoS-based DBAMechanism in EPON

In this paper, we propose a QoS-based dynamic bandwidth allocation (QDBA) mechanism incorporated with a prediction-based fair excessive bandwidth allocation (PFEBA) scheme in EPON. The simulation results show that the proposed mechanism can reduce the maximum packet delay and packet delay variation for high priority traffic to ensure quality ofservice (QoS). Index Terms-DBA, EPON, PFEBA, QoS prediction accuracy. This paper proposes a QoS-based DBA mechanism incorporated with the PFEBA scheme in EPON to enhance the system performance. In this paper, high priority traffic is always assigned in the fixed location of the frame to minimize delay variation. We present the simulation results on maximum packet delay and packet delay variation to demonstrate validity our ideas.
