The paper presenst taxonomic observations on the Rotorboides granulosum (Heron-Allen and Earland), a less known foraminiferid collected during the course of investigation of Recent littoral sediments along Palk Strait (9° N to 10° N) and Kakinada Bay, east coast of India. Systematics and the microstructure of this rotaliid, found in the shallow and protected tropical waters of the world since Middle Pliocene has been discussed vis-a-vis its origin and significance in the paleoenvironmental and paleolatitudinal reconstruction of the Tetiary strata, elsewhere.
