Elastostatic crack tip behavior for a rubber-like material

Abstract Analyzed in this work is the elastostatic field near a crack tip in a rubber-like material. Asymptotic equations for a crack opened symmetrically about its plane are derived from assumed forms of the strain energy density and constitutive relation that applies to large and finite strain and remains valid even when the strain tends to infinity in the limit. Near field solutions are obtained in regions that decreases and increases in size as the crack tip is approached. Their singular character depends on the constitutive parameters and is evaluated numerically.
