A watermarking technique for the protection of digital images IPR

Digital watermarking techniques represent a valid s olution to the ever increasing need for copyright protection and authentication of multimedia data, such as digitized images, video recordings or audio recordi ngs. A digital watermark is an identification code, embedded in the document to be protected, carrying information pertaining to copyright protection and data authent ication, thus allowing to identify the creator, owner, distributor, authorized consume r of digital data. A new image watermarking algorithm is proposed here which opera tes in the frequency domain. Experimental results are reported proving the robus tness of the presented algorithm against some of the most common image processing techniques.
