Database tomography: Origins and duplications

A new tool for addressing complex database analyses, full-text co-word analysis (database tomography), is described from both an historical and practical perspective. This article traces its origins in computational linguistics and summarizes the development of co-word analysis for research evaluation. It presents actual and potential applications of the techniques to current problems facing those involved ingathering competitive intelligence. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
