Backlight assembly and liquid crystal display using the same

A backlight assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) adapting the same are provided to arrange a foreign substance shielding member between a mold frame and a backlight unit, thereby preventing the generation of a clucking noise. A backlight unit(400) includes a lamp and a light guide panel. A receiving member(600) receives the backlight unit. A mold frame(700) is inserted into a gap between a sidewall of the receiving member and the backlight unit. A foreign substance shielding member(800) is arranged between the backlight unit and the mold frame. The mold frame is formed with a square frame shape and includes a lower portion inserted into the gap between the backlight unit and the receiving member. A backlight support surface is adjacent to the backlight unit. The foreign substance shielding member is formed on the backlight support surface.
