Wind turbines in wind power plants have become a major source of electrical generation in California. Because of this, they have also become a major visual element on the California landscape. These wind plants have engendered great interest as well as debate regarding the role of this renewable technology. Although public opinion surveys have found continuing support for wind-energy development, the wind industry realizes that it must incorporate measures to minimize the visual impact of wind turbines on the landscape to foster the greatest possible acceptance.
