Recent studies have signaled to the intensification of investigations into the phenomenon "IT capabilities business value", in view of the mixed results that predominate in the literature. One of the suggestions made is the adoption of multiple theories to the study of the phenomenon. Thus, this research aims to contribute to the identification of the value of IT capabilities on the perspective of multiple theories and variables, especially the impact of internal and external capabilities on the multilevel organizational performance (process and firm). A survey with large companies in Brazil (ranking of 2012) was performed to test the hypotheses. It was preceded from the construction of the instrument, experts consultation, pre -test and pilot study. The data are analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling. The results allow the identification of some boundaries of the theories adopted for understanding the IT business value. Limitations and recommendations are contained in the conclusions of the research. Full Paper PDF: http://www.contecsi.fea.usp.br/envio/11contecsi-files/papers/899/submission/director/899-2529-1-DR.pdf
