A Collaborative Strategy for Manufacturing Execution Systems

This research proposes a collaborative strategy for the collaborative Manufacturing execution system (CMES) over the networked environment. In contrast to the existing MES, a general wrapper is build on the top of MES applications, which combined earlier generation MES functionality to operate and improve plant operations, and to add better ability to integrate with other systems in the enterprise and improve value chain/stream. The wrapper included three main functions: collaborative project management, collaborative scheduling management and collaborative monitor management. Those functions can form an environment of "compete-cooperate-harmonize", give more timely information to punctually schedule tasks and expose the production process to all who need. Later the characters of CMES are discussed.
