Apparatus and method for linking a basic device and extended devices

An apparatus and a method for linking a basic device with an extended device are provided to link the basis device with various electronic devices as the extended devices by using metadata in a multimedia stream, thereby satisfying the sense of a user. A scene descriptor parser(34) parses only a basic scene descriptor configuring a scene descriptor. A scene composition manager(35) composites a video by using the parsing result of the scene descriptor parser, an audio stream, a video stream and a data stream. An extended scene descriptor manager(36) parses an extended scene descriptor included in the scene descriptor, and acquires an OD(Object Descriptor) ID(Identification) corresponding to metadata about a specific scene. A metadata delivery manager(37) extracts corresponding metadata by using the OD ID acquired by the extended scene descriptor manager, and transmits the extracted metadata to an extended device(31).
