Public participation in transportation planning

Sociological considerations are discussed in the conduct of participatory planning of transportation. Several specific participation techniques are evaluated. Public participation is not a bizarre imposition by fuzzy-minded, misguided forces, as many planners believe. A successful participatory project is one in which the public interest gets a reasonable amount of attention. (1 table)
