Determination of the Double Electric Layer Parameters in the Metal-Polymer Adhesion Contact by the Nondestructive Thermodepolarization Method

Abstract The parameters of a double electric layer (DEL) at the interface were defined on the basis of the experimental data obtained from the analysis of the spectra of thermostimulated depolarization of metal-polymer adhesive contacts. The extremum values of these parameters have been assessed, and these determine the contribution of the electrostatic component to adhesion. It has been shown that the intensity of the electric field at the interface can attain the values of ca. 10 7 V/cm. The ionization coefficient of the functional groups of polymer close to the adhesive contact has been evaluated (10 -3 -10 -4 ). The width of the range of a space charge of the DEL in the polymer has been calculated by taking into account that value.
