GPS-disciplined waveform synthesis for distributed radar systems

High precision frequency or phase synchronization is required for distributed radar systems, in which the transmitted and receiver are placed in separate platforms. This paper investigated a global positioning system (GPS)-disciplined waveform synthesis for distributed radar systems. Both the transmitter and receiver contain a GPS disciplined oscillator, and frequency trimmed by the use of tuning varactor-diode. Thereafter, one parallel direct digital synthesizer (DDS)-based method is used to synthesize the required radar waveforms.
