Wideband arrays using irregular (polyomino) shaped subarrays

Irregular polyomino-shaped subarrays are shown to provide a practical and effective means for introducing time delay into an array with phase steering. The elimination of quantisation lobes, with resulting peak sidelobes suppressed more than 14 dB below the quantisation lobes of an array of rectangular subarrays, is demonstrated.
