Effectiveness of Internet Based Psychotherapeutic Intervention in Common Psychiatric Disorders

TherationaleofthearticleistodescribetheuseoftheInternetforpsychologicaltreatmentinaclinical setting.Internet-basedpsychotherapyasatherapeutictool,thatoffersananonymouswayforpeople tosearchforinformationandparticipateintreatment.Researchstudiesonweb-basedpsychotherapy forthemajordepressivedisorder,anxietydisordersandotherpsychologicalconditionshasgrown swiftlyinthelastdecades.FindingsrevealedthatsomeformsofInternet-basedtreatmentsoftenlead toresultssimilartothoseoftraditionalfacetofacepsychotherapy.TheadvantagesofInternet-based interventionsarehigh-costeffectiveness,greateraccesstoevidence-basedtreatment,andgreateraccess topatientsinremotelocations.Thedeteriorationofsymptoms,theemergenceofnewpsychological symptoms,ahighrateofabandonmentandthefrustrationcausedbytechnicalproblemsaresomeof thenegativeeffectsofInternetinterventions.Inconclusion,thereisnowampleevidencethatInternet based-interventionsworkforcommonmentaldisorderssuchasdepression,anxietydisorder,alcohol consumption,smokingcessation,eatingdisorders,headachesandinsomnia.Researchoninterventions ontheInternetisadvancingathighspeed,whiletheproliferationandprolongedimplementationof interventionsontheInternetinregularassistanceisstillinitsinfancy.
