Sub-Joule Single-Cycle Terahertz Pulse by Frequency Downshifting of a Picosecond 10 μm CO2 Laser Pulse in a Tailored Plasma Structure

We propose a method of generating sub-joule single-cycle terahertz pulse tunable from 2-10 THz by using a picosecond 10 μm CO2 laser pulse based on frequency downshifting in a tailored plasma structure.
