A HSPA+/WCDMA/EDGE 40nm Modem SoC with embedded RF transceiver supporting RX diversity

A 40 nm CMOS transceiver supports 10 bands of HSPA+ and quad-band GSM/EDGE occupying 6.2 mm2 of a Modem SoC. The TX supports up to 11 Mb/s HSUPA with minimal analog filtering and <;35 mA battery current DG-09 weighted. Receive diversity with dual cell HSDPA supports up to 42 Mb/s downlink. The RX path is inductorless and achieves -111 dBm sensitivity using a low power synthesizer with <;0.35 deg-rms noise. This together with modem based impairment correction achieves >42dB SNR for receive levels >-60 dBm.
