Follow-up Study of Compression Fractures of the Thoracic and Lumbar Vertebral Bodies by Conservative Treatment

This paper is based on a study of 64 stable fractures of the thoracic and lumbar vertebral bodies occurring in 58 patients during the period from 1976 to 1986 inclusive. 46 patients were treated with anatomical reduction and then casting, 12 patients with application of a brace after placing the patient in slight hyperextension on the bed for about four weeks. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationship between clinical and radiological results.
