Novel integrated GPS/RKES/PCS antenna for vehicular application

This letter presents the design of a novel integrated global positioning system (GPS)/remote keyless entry system (RKES)/personal communication system (PCS) antenna for vehicular application. The GPS (1575.42 /spl plusmn/ 1.023MHz) antenna element is a corner truncated microstrip patch providing circularly polarized broadside radiation pattern. The normal mode helical and monopole antennas are combined into one for RKES/PCS (447.7375MHz/1750-1870MHz) services. The proposed antenna satisfies all the bandwidth and gain requirements for GPS and RKES/PCS services. Good radiation characteristics for vehicular application have also been obtained.
