Visualization of Flows between Two Rectangular Cylinders Using Image Processing

It is important to disclose the wake flow around cylinders for understanding the mechanisms of heat transfer enhancement in flow networks. An experimental study using an image processing was performed to visualize the wake flow in the gap between two rectangular cylinders. Square and rectangular cylinders are selected in the experiment. The wake flows at low Reynolds number on vertical transections are visualized from a rear view using the fluorescein dye illuminated by a laser light sheet. Different shapes of vortices are shown in the wake flows visualized at each section and each time. The image processing allows a better understanding of vortex structures of flow in the gap between two rectangular cylinders.
