Modeling and simulation of a current programmed DC-DC converter: a new strategy

An approach to the study of DC-DC current mode switching converters is developed. The aim is to study a phenomenon experimentally tested on the prototype of the circuit considered and referred to in the literature as subharmonic oscillation. It consists of an asymmetry in the pulsewidth modular waveform characteristic of this kind of device. Due to the fact that the classical time-averaged models cannot represent such types of oscillations, a new nonlinear model is presented and the study has been carried out by simulating this model. Great attention has been devoted to the duty-cycle quantity to highlight nonlinear phenomena. Duty, a new function which gives a goodness factor for system nonlinear phenomena, is introduced.<<ETX>>
