28 Gb/s High-Speed Signal Generation Using a Hybrid Modulation Scheme

We demonstrate a simplified approach for signal generation using dual modulation of both a directly modulated laser and an electro-absorption modulator designed as a monolithically integrated device. The simplified technique records an improved output power and a successful transmission of a 28 Gb/s signal for 20 km.
