Development of an OPC Server for a Fieldbus Diagnosis Tool

The increased use of multiple interconnected fieldbuses with variety of field devices require effective operation and maintenance to reduce downtimes. Increased globalisation of manufacturing activities and geographically widespread facilities bring new challenges for monitoring and diagnostics of field devices. This paper outlines a diagnostics tool capable of diagnosing multiple fieldbuses simultaneously, with local and remote access to diagnostic information. The development and test of OPC server for this device is reported in this paper.
