The State of the Art in Formal Methods:A Survey

This paper surveys recent progress in the develop-ment of formal methods for specifying and verifying complex hardware and software systems.This article introduces the basic concepts of formal methods and describes the short history of formal methods,then some typical industry applications of for-mal methods are presented in succession.Finally,the strength and weakness,the future directions of formal methods are dis-cussed.
