In thispaperthetypical interference sources for wireless communication inMediumVoltage (MV)switchgear arefirst studied andsummarized, andthegapbreakdown is thenchosenastheprimaryinterference sourceforIEEE 802.11bcommunication. The immunityteststo the interference ofgapbreakdownandnarrow-band signals are carried out.Theresults showthatbothSF6andvacuumgap breakdownhaveremarkable impactson IEEE 802.11b communication. Itisfoundthatwhenthestrength ofradio signal isstrongenough, itwillalsocause802.11b working abnormally. According tothetestresults, thereliability performance of802.1lb devices isassessed preliminary.
