Reconfiguration of electric distribution systems

A methodology to reconfigure an electric power distribution network under normal operating conditions to reduce the active losses of the network or to balance the load of the system's feeders is presented. An heuristic solution algorithm is used. It is based on the method of branch exchange, where different radial configurations are generated, improving the objective function and originating a sequence of maneuvers to be performed on the network. In order to guide the search for configurations, the Power Summation Method is used for load flow calculations, in iterative and direct simplified versions. Significant reductions in CPU time are achieved with the simplified version. Turbo Pascal programming facilitates the dynamic handling of the network structore.
