The Soviet View of Engineering Psychology

The U.S.S.R. traces the antecedents of engineering psychology to the work of D. I. Mendeleev in 1880 and also to N. A. Arendt in 1888 in connection with the development of aeronautics. The history of the field progressed through the 20th century until the early 1950's when its major expansion took place. Discussed also is the relationship between engineering psychology and the other sciences, conferences held and the material presented, and a review of the major publications in the field.
