ACCIDENTS PREVENTION USING BLUETOOTH

Worldwide the number of people killed during road accidents is estimated to be about 1.2 million and those injured are more than about 50 millions. As per estimated statistics in India, around 80,000 people die per year ,1.2 million get seriously injured and about 5 lakh people get permanently disabled. According to the safety studies the accidents occur mainly because of the driver's fault or due to negligency regarding the safety norms. Some of the reasons reference to this can be drink and drive. overtaking from the wrong side and the most important is the unawareness of road sense. These accidents can be avoided if there was a way provided which could alert the driver regarding the approaching danger. This can be done by monitoring the distance between the vehicles and alerting the driver whenever the distance becomes too short. In this paper we propose the use of Bluetooth technology which would check the distance between vehicles and the speed of the approaching vehicle.
