Energiezonenplanung Plus (EZP+): Open-Source-Tool für die Planung von Fernwärmenetzen anhand von hoch aufgelösten räumlich-zeitlichen Daten

The planning of heat supply systems for districts and cities is a challenge that can be addressed with the aid of a GIS. In the scientific literature there are two topics that have been handled separately so far: the planning of a district heating network (DHN) and the use of solar thermal systems to supply heat for already operating DHNs. In this paper a GIS-based planning approach that integrates these two procedures is presented. This is based on the energy planning zones concept and incorporates the consideration of the current and potential use of roof-top solar thermal systems in the planning of DHNs. The approach has been implemented as a QGIS plug-in and was tested with trial data from an Austrian municipality.
