Extending a Short-range Wireless Instrumentation Bus to a Geographic Network

In this paper, important enhancements to a wireless instrumentation bus based, on Bluetooth (BT) standard, are presented. They concern with the realization of a slave Bluetooth module for USB devices and the possibility to control the wireless instrumentation bus via remote Ethernet controllers. In the paper, wide descriptions of the realized improvements are presented. Finally results of the whole interface system characterization in terms of communication reliability and throughput are reported with reference to some basic operation modes
