Abstract : Research concerns the study of techniques for microwave storage utilizing cryogenics, and the design of a storage device capable of 20-microsecond delay, with a bandwidth of 4 to 12 kmc and attenuation of 2 db. The results of the initial study of types of transmission lines are presented. The strip-line showed the most promise and can be designed on the basis of data extrapolated from coaxial cable measurements. A coaxial cable transmission line was constructed to provide data for the study. Short lengths were tested with connectors to evaluate microwave performance. The study showed that several areas of investigation required an extremely complex mathematical representation. In some of these cases experimental measurements provided a more rewarding approach.
