The North Italy Transplant program (NITp) is a program for cadaver organ transplantation that has served an area with about 17 million inhabitants since 1972. It is made up of 20 active donor-procuring centers, 12 kidney, 5 heart, 3 liver, 3 pancreas transplant centers, and is supported by a single coordinating center, the functions of which are to manage waiting lists, perform pre-transplant immunological tests, allocate organs, collect and analyze data (of recipients, organs and donors), organize organ retrieval, transplantation and transport
