Findings of suspected items by a commercial-grade item dedication program in nuclear power plants

Various defective materials which were suspected of being counterfeit, fraudulent, and substandard items (CFSIs) were identified with the help of a commercial-grade item dedication program for key electronic components of nuclear power plants. The characteristics of CFSIs found by a unique quality control program for nuclear power plants include an inappropriate appearance, an excessive shelf life, and a poor performance. The nuclear industry, which requires a high level of safety and reliability, needs to block the potential risks of CFSIs by utilizing a comprehensive preventive acceptance process based on sound knowledge and experience.
