Memory and Awareness

We can remember the learning of some tasks consciously but some leave no conscious trace at all. In his commentary, Schacter summarizes the dependence of memory tasks on conscious awareness. Of particular note are two closely related tasks that differ in their requirement for conscious input, described in an article in this issue by Clark and Squire.
