Metastasis from renal cell carcinoma to the thyroid 12 years after nephrectomy

An 80-year-old woman presented to her primary care physician with a lump in her neck. On examination, the lump appeared to be a thyroid nodule, and a fine-needle aspiration biopsy was done. Twelve years earlier, renal cell carcinoma had been diagnosed and treated with radical nephrectomy and lymph
