Search Engine and Hyperconcordance

The chapter begins by explaining the nature of a search engine, a concordance, and a hyperconcordance. The Bichitra search engine is an example of the last, as it links the search results to the full texts where the search terms occur. To avoid unnecessary multiplication of largely repeated results, only the standard text in Tagore’s Collected Works has been used for the search engine. Instead of searching the text files themselves, the search is directed at an index compiled from these files. This was created offline and uploaded to the website. There is a detailed account of how to use the hyperconcordance.
