ON THE DESIGN SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS OF BEAMS UNDER FREE AND FORCED NONLINEAR VIBRATIONS

A computational method for design sensi tivity analyses of nonlinear eigenproblems is presented in this paper. The nonlinear eigenproblems pertain to the nonlinear vibrations of beams under free and harmonic force. The geometric nonl ineari ty resul ts from the large deflection of beam. It is found that the equation for computing the design sensitivity of eigenvector is linear and unsymmetric. And a prior knowledge of the eigenvector design sensitivity is needed for the calculation of the eigenvalue sensitivity. Numerical results show that the proposed computational method is valid and efficient.
