Circuit-Level Analysis on the VCSOA Typical Parameter Properties

From the symmetrical structure the new vertical-cavity semiconductor optical amplify (VCSOA), the VCSOA equivalent circuit model based on the SOA rate equations is established by PSPICE software. Through this model, VCSOA properties are analyzed. The results show that either decreasing aperture or increasing spontaneous emission factor can reduce threshold current, raise relaxation oscillations frequency, spread modulation bandwidth and improve noise performance.
