Estimating the size of applications in MDA environments

Software effort estimation is a significant challenge for software management. This paper mainly focuses on a Functional Size Measurement procedure for Object-Oriented applications generated in MDA environments based on COSMIC-FFP. According to COSMIC-FFP version 3.0, this procedure is divided into three phases: strategy phase, mapping phase and measurement phase. Firstly, the mapping rules and measurement rules are summarized upon previous research results. Then, a case study is introduced to interpret the measurement process in brief. Finally, an idea about improving Object-Oriented conceptual models is proposed combining with the practical measurement procedure.
